“The suggestion to have a sculpture there was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was erected there in the plaza opposite the temple which was earlier known as Damroo Chowk. The sculpture was built in pieces at a workshop in Vadodara and then shifted to Kedarnath. Besides ensuring that the massive sculpture remained stable in extreme conditions, those working at the site in Kedarnath were also tested by extreme cold, wind, rain and hail. Designing and erecting the large 6,000kg sculpture in extreme conditions was a daunting task. But a few would know that the magnanimous sculpture has been made in Vadodara by city-based artists. Vadodara: Those who visited the Kedarnath temple recently must not have missed the iconic Om sculpture erected in the space opposite the shrine there.
